Our Story

I started this business in 2015 when my son was a high school senior. I had been doing his portraits each year for a long time, and my husband suggested I do his senior portraits as well. Even as a two-income household, we found it almost impossible to afford the big name photographers suggested to us. It got me thinking that we could not be the only ones who just could not make this happen for our child. I decided to see if there was a market for on-location senior photographers in the area and there was! All parents want to give their children the opportunity to have senior portrait sessions. I decided to work out several plans so that families could find something to fit their budget.

Realizing it is God who has provided me with this talent and opportunity, I dedicated Angie Rivers Photography back to Him. I set up my accounts such that proceeds are used for missions. I work with a team from First Baptist Church of Kingsland, Georgia through an organization called Hope of Life to minister to the people of Los Bordos, Zacapa, Teculután en Guatemala. It is a small village in a poverty-stricken area. Together we work to feed the people of the dump, provide Vacation Bible School, provide shoes and clothes, minister to the mothers who are trying hard to care for their children in such poverty and share the Gospel with anyone and everyone with whom we come into contact.

Hope of Life International is in Eastern Guatemala, where severe malnutrition is a result of adverse weather, poor soil, and the global economic turndown. In this area, it is estimated that over 54,000 people go hungry every day. With a chronic undernutrition rate of nearly 50%, this makes Guatemala the most undernourished country in Latin American and the fourth highest in the world. Since the beginning of Hope of Life International in 1987, 6,721 family homes have been built, 611 church planters have been trained, over $307 million of health care aid has been distributed, 28,871 children have been rescued, 496 clean water projects have been implemented, 7,217 children and elderly have been sponsored, 310 schools and educational centers have been built, and 570 churches/community centers have been built.
